Don't Let the Economic and Political Crisis

On 5th July 2022, the Rupiah depreciated again against the United States Dollar, reaching 15 thousand Rupiah, to be precise at Rp. 15,029.85 and its trend in the last 1 month continues to weaken*.

Not only the weak Rupiah, the Indonesian economy does not seem to be doing well, the country's economy does not seem to be well managed, there are still past events, cooking oil is scarce in the market, inflation continues to increase, even food inflation reaches more than 10% **.

People who earn 1 million to 3 million per month, after being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, are forced to face a very heavy burden of life. The majority of their expenses are food consumption and gasoline, both of which have experienced significant increases, while their ability to pay installments is weakening***.

On the other hand, the middle class is adding to their savings balances***, perhaps just in case there is economic uncertainty, while credit growth is not satisfactory.

Not to mention political issues, both domestic and foreign that also influence, domestically the political temperature of the 2024 Presidential Election has begun to heat up.

In fact, in the conventional economy, it is no stranger to economic instability, political economy full of conflict, ballooning money circulation in the non-real sector, unequal competition and much more.

Various countries seem to alternately experience economic crises, some of which must experience multidimensional crises, ranging from government crises (government shut down) to humanitarian crises.

Remembering the crisis in 1998, Indonesia became chaotic, the author felt very well the collapse of the economy of individuals, families and communities, even not only the collapse of the economy but also the fall of the dignity and dignity of some people at that time.

Economics and Politics are indeed two things that are very very influential on life in the world, if only both experience a crisis, then it can be predicted that our lives will experience shocks, Naudzubillah min dzalik.

But no matter what, optimism must still be instilled, prepare for the worst hope for the best, keep the prejudice against the government, while continuing to try and pray for the best, and not forgetting to help each other, remind each other that only to Allah Azza wa Jalla we surrender ourselves, both in aqidah, worship and Muamalah.

Wallahu a'lam bishawab
